“Quatuor” is a name I can hardly pronounce but signifies a parcel of pleasure from Roger Dubuis that’s wonderfully and most exquisitely deranged. Day at SIHH 2013 is finished and I am trying to wrap my mind around all of the people I watched and faces I accidentally forgot. Always good to reunite with friends and have strangers that appear to know you develop and ask how things are. It is all too generic. A waste of time than a useful social ritual. How about something more interesting like”was it difficult to select what pants to wear today?” Yes, my head was on all of those things save for timepieces. Of which there were scant few”novelties” at 2013’s SIHH, but obviously a few leaders at the”cool bunch.”
The show begins like a mimic of others. Virtually all that’s new is inside the booths. Roger Dubuis is among the few areas whose stall is as worth seeing as the watches. Even though Roger Dubuis timepieces are prohibitively expensive for all but the most anti-frugal of budgets, I love their take on showy, light-hearted, and obviously theatrical luxury. This year’s booth looks like any kind of shrub root-filled forest floor with a giant golden eagle in the center. Yes, the eagle produced specially for Roger Dubuis excalibur replica watches by a business which makes stuff for film collections. There’s also a guy with an American bald eagle on his hand. An authentic live bird which brings a crowd. The eagle is calm, even though a not-so-small fortune in watches rests behind it at the rear office dungeons. I suddenly have no clue what any of this has to do with watches. And then Jean-Marc Pontroue, CEO of Roger Dubuis, reveals me this incredibly bizarre watch box that opens to the Quatuor.
Place in the Roger Dubuis Excalibur case, the Quatuor is big at 48mm wide. Its complex movement compels the watch to become thick, but the truth is it’s just as insane as your average area Roger Dubuis skeleton double tourbillon watch. The movement is superbly symmetrical and beautiful in its design. According to Roger Dubuis easy diver replica watches manufacturer, it requires a full 2-3 days to only assemble the motion. Something such as 2,400 hours are required to construct the watch from start to finish.
Produced by lead Roger Dubuis chronoexcel fake watches motion designer Gregory Bruttin, the caliber RD101 movement in the Quatuor is unlike many things you have seen before — even though it simply shows the time. It feels like something in the Opus collection. The movement is comprised of almost 600 components, and is profoundly dark and rich in polished along with other artistic techniques. It looks quite cool, but is unfortunately very hard to photograph correctly.
According to Roger Dubuis sympathie replica , the energy reserve mechanism is new. It rotates after each five hours or so in conjunction with a normal hand. It is merely that the normal hand has two sides to demonstrate the power reserve”twice” It’s difficult to explain but the movie helps illuminate how it works better. What benefits it haves over”normal” power book indicators is a bit lost to me, but I was still impressed. The Quatuor is a good example from the already showy Excalibur collection.
At all angles that the RD101 manually wound movement is beautiful. Seeing the constant movement of those four escapements is endearingly intriguing though the timepiece is anything but quiet (aesthetically and visually ). It is merely the sort of watch nerd candy folks like me love. And Roger Dubuis tourbillon replica watch created it to get a simple love of the game. It’s unique and unique yes, and of course priced as such so.
The final oddity about the Excalibur Quatuor watch set is at the material of one of its variations. The two Quatuor models will likely be limited variations, the 18k red gold one to 88 pieces, but the other version to only 3 pieces. What’s so special about it? It is actually made from silicon. Yesthat material everybody was so googly eyed about for years when it came to replacing metal components in mechanical motions… made its way into a wristwatch case (since the whole case). As far as I am told silicon is quite scratch resistant. I can’t personally attest to this, but it is light. Damn light. I picked up both silicon, titaniumsteel instances of the same volume and the ion was far the lightest, taking a dark grey almost gun metallic shade. Plus it costs a fortune to machine correctly.
